Elegant Chinnalpatti Ikkat Silk cotton saree, handwoven in a small village in Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu. The warp in the saree is made using Kora Silk and weft with mercerized cotton. Each saree is handwoven over a period of 3 - 4 days by a skilled weaver. Generally, in each house you would find both the male member and the female member contributing equally to saree weaving. However, there are very few kids, who are willing to continue this tradition as they feel the remuneration is not good enough for the effort involved.
As of today, Chinnalapatti Village economy mainly depends on handloom weaving industry and is known for it. Weaving has been a way of life in Chinalapatti since time immemorial. They make the famous Sungudis and the ikkat sarees.
